A logo is a matter of form. – Following the slogan this thesis presents abstract logo design and centers the meaning and the effect of different shapes and symbols. From the early stages of human history to the 21st century symbols have been an important medium in our communication. Especially today abstract logos play an essential role in the identification and differentiation of brands. The aim of this thesis is to provide an insight into the world of abstract symbols in a historical and cultural sense and to show the importance of symbols in logo design by relevant examples as well as a logo design workpiece.
